ABOUT ME

I’M JUST A GUY
I’m Jake Poole. I have a perpetual love for music and all things “sound”. I grew up with a father who loved guitar, and a variety of music, from Jim Croce to Van Halen, which rubbed off on me early on. I was always surrounded by music, you could regularly hear local bands jamming up and down the street I lived on. I learned my first few guitar chords from my dad, fell in love with it, and absolutely ran with it from there.
I got my first real guitar at 7 years old, and my first drum kit at 12. It didn’t take long for drums to become my favorite instrument, to the assumed dismay of my parents. (Sorry)
By the age of 18, I had written a few songs and found an interest in learning to record. There was no YouTube to learn from back then, so I was winging it with a Lexicon Omega interface, a few cheap vocal mics, a pair of headphones, and Cubase LE on an old Windows 2000 PC that I believe was a retired school library computer. It wasn’t much, and I had no idea what I was doing, but I was having a blast!
I dabbled with it on and off for years, but around age 26, I got serious. “Information Super Highway” gave me access to boundless knowledge of everything audio, and I continue further down that rabbit hole to this day.
Now here I am, at the time of writing this, age 38. I was fortunate enough to make the right connections at the right time, which resulted in me finding a mentor who helped me get a foot in the door to live sound, who has since become a great friend and partner in the business. All of this has culminated to me finally having a full-time career doing what I love.
I’ve always said I’d grow up to have a career in music. Where I ended up wasn’t “quite” what I meant back then, but I truly couldn’t be happier. I am so blessed and grateful to now be able to do the work that I am so deeply passionate about, which brings meaning and fulfillment to my life and others.
